Passion For Art
I am a York based artist with roots in the Northeast of England who, following a career as a scientist, returned to the easel in 2010, experimenting and self-learning with oil painting media, followed by more formal teaching from a local artist. My passion for painting stretches back to my childhood, where I was taught by, and painted with my father.
Media
I work from my home studio, primarily with oil paints, enjoying the depth and tones of pigments, brush strokes and movement of paint on the canvas. I take much of my inspiration from the beauty of the natural world, believing mother nature to be the greatest artist and enjoy capturing the wonderful variety of colours presented to me by water, coastal structures, and vivid skies.
Activities
I currently have three of the Woodland Series original oil paintings on display and available for sale until January 2026 at The Pyramid Gallery, Stone Gate, YORK. In 2026, I will be taking part in York Open Studios which gives me the opportunity to welcome visitors and discuss my painting inspirations and techniques as well as having my work available to purchase. Pieces newly painted in 2025 will be available.
